Posta extend league lead with win over Bandari as Gor Mahia draw

First half goals were enough for Rangers to win the game

Posta Rangers have opened a three-point gap at the summit of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after edging Bandari 2-0 at the Kasarani Annex on Saturday.

Heading to the game, Rangers were having a point-gap between them and the second-placed Gor Mahia but can rest easy after the record champions were held to a barren draw by Bidco United at the main stadium.

The win confirms Rangers return to winning ways after losing 3-1 to FC Talanta last weekend at the Ruaraka Grounds, tasting defeat for the first time in the campaign.

Gor Mahia 0-0 Bidco United

While it was a good day in the office for Posta, their closest rivals in the title race, Gor were held to a barren draw by the resolute Bidco who are yet to get one over K'Ogalo since getting promotion to the top tier.

Kenya Police 1-1 FC Talanta

It wasn't the best day either for Kenya Police who had to rally from a goal down in order to hold FC Talanta to 1-1 draw at their South C grounds.

Police who were coming off a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Sofapaka were largely expected to dominate the game and win it convincingly after apparently going down into training after their defeat against the 2009 league winners.

Lucas Waitere had given Talanta the lead in the 21st minute but Tyson Otieno struck in the 33rd minute to see his side pick a point.

Sofapaka 0-1 Tusker FC

Tusker recorded their third win of the season after beating Sofapaka 1-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

James Kibande scored the all-important goal for the brewers in the 59th minute to relieve pressure on coach Robert Matano.

Muhoroni Youth 1-1 Murang'a Seal

Christopher Raila's opener for the hosts in the 14th minute was canceled out by Erick Balecho as Murang'a Seal recorded their second consecutive draw in the FKF Premier League.

The point took the visitors to third place with 14 points with Muhoroni Youth in 15th with eight points.

Game Summary

Fueled by the desire to right last weekend's wrongs that saw the team surrender it's unbeaten start, Rangers made it clear that they were in for business from onset.

Well-worked build-ups, progression of the ball, attacking and defending was executed with a plan and cohesion making what was expected to a tough encounter look ease, at least for their side in the first half.

Bandari weren't badly off as they did well in terms of pressing and creating havoc in the Rangers area but unfortunately, lacked punch to breach the human wall and get the ball past Samuel Njau.

Rangers deservedly took the lead in the 15th minute through centre back Bernard Ondiek who connected a cross from left back Titus Achesa.

The affair looked balanced after Rangers took the lead and Bandari stepped up as they looked to get back to it but there wasn't easy passage at all.

Rangers doubled their lead in the 40th minute through Andrew Juma who turned the ball into his own net while attempting to make clearance.

Brian Otieno had curled the ball to the farthest corner but it rebounded off the woodwork, hitting the retreating Juma who couldn't help but watch it slither past the line.

Fortunes swung in favour of Bandari in the second half as they enjoyed dominance in large spells after throwing in fresh legs before restart.

Their inability to convert chances was however rife as they didn't make any meaningful attack that could have made Rangers abandon their style of play and opt to guard their advantage.
