The law enforcers have been firing from all cylinders in recent weeks

Kenya Police winger Clifton Miheso is a relieved man after blasting open his goal account in the 2022-2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season with a brace.

Miheso who was the club’s best scorer in the past year had endured a prolonged goal drought as the winger had failed to score in the previous eleven rounds.

However, the experienced flanker quenched his thirst for goals in the season in style as he found the back of the net twice when Police thrashed Mathare United 5-0 on Wednesday at Kasarani Stadium.

Miheso while rubbishing a suggestion that the rough patch had invited pressure on his shoulders said he was glad to have belatedly hit the ground running and expressed optimism in maintaining the scoring touch going forward.

It feels good to score for the first time in the season and most importantly, to help the team secure three points. I am hoping that I will continue scoring for my own benefit and that of the team. I always approach every game with the intention of playing well and capping it with a goal or an assist,” he said.

A keen look on the league table shows that Police are the second-best scoring team after Kariobangi Sharks.

The team that boasts of having decent players within its ranks was struggling to score goals early in the season but their fortunes changed as soon as Francis Baraza took over the reigns.

Miheso revealed that the former Kenyan international had restored confidence and improved the cohesion levels in the team and hence, the positive results.

Under Baraza, Police have won six rounds, shared spoils three times and lost once.

Meanwhile, having found his scoring mojo back, the former AFC Leopards man said he was hopeful of earning a national team call up for the assignments lined up for Stars in the year.

Harambee Stars is expected to play a couple of friendly matches following the lifting of the suspension imposed on the country by the world’s governing body in November last year.

I wouldn’t mind to be selected for national team duties in the year. It is a responsibility I am ready to take just like any other player who has ambitions,” he opened up.
