In 2012 the club he played for, Mamelodi Sundowns came calling and he had to leave the club and lasted at the club for eight years winning one CAF Champions League title and a host of league titles. He moved to Egypt in 2020 and bagged back-to-back CAF CL titles; in 2022 however, Wydad AC denied him a third CAF CL title in a row when they went down to the Moroccan side in the final.
Al Ahli was founded in 1937 and have three league titles to their name. They currently feature in the second tier of Saudi football after their relegation at the end of the 2021-22 season. The team finished in the 15th position in the league and automatically went down.
