The tactician had been linked to a number of African clubs
Celebrated South African coach Pitso Mosimane has extended his love affair with the Gulf region after joining United Arab Emirates side Al Wahda.
The latest development comes hardly weeks after, the experienced tactician cut ties with Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli after seeing the outfit gain promotion to the top flight with a game to spare.
Soon after leaving the Saudi club, Mosimane was linked to a number of clubs including record Tanzanian champions Yanga who are on the search for a new gaffer after parting ways with Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Yanga cut ties with the multiple-league-winning Nabi following the expiry of his contract.
South African giants Kaizer Chiefs had also, been said to be eyeing Mosimane’s signature in the wake of his acrimonious exit from Saudi Arabia.
“Al Wahda FC Company has signed with the South African Technical Director Pitso Mosimane to lead the first team as a Head Coach. The Club’s Board of Directors welcomes Mr Mosimane to the Home of Champion ; wishing him the success in serving the club’s leadership, administration and fans ambitions,” read a confirmation from the UAE club.
It was widely reported that Mosimane, staff, and players at Ahli went for a while without getting their salaries, triggering a fallout that culminated in contract termination.
Mosimane, a CAF Champions League winner with South African league champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Egyptian giants Al Ahly is widely expected to join the club with his own backroom staff just like he did at Ahli and in Egypt.
