The former AFC Leopards midfielder is set to return to action in November.

Nairobi City Stars midfield lynchpin Peter Pinchez Opiyo missed the season-opening 3-1 defeat to Sofapaka and has opened up on frustrations of being on the treatment table.

The veteran midfielder missed a number of games towards the tail end of the last season after having trouble with his left knee meniscus.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Pinchez noted that he sometimes wishes he was on the field of play to help the team and predicted the struggles he will face when he returns to the side.

“It is not easy to be out of action because sometimes you see that you can help the team where they lack but you are not fit then again your match fitness goes down while you are injured,”

“I know when I return I will find people who are very fit and it will force me to train even more than those who are playing because for me it’s now about strength and conditioning and when I return I could have gone overboard or under,” said Pinchez.

The former Gor Mahia midfielder finished as City Stars' top scorer last season with seven goals, three more than his closest challengers after Erick Ombija, Antony Kimani, Ezekiel Odera and Nicholas Kipkirui all shared four goals.

Pinchez noted that he might return to action in November and has set his immediate targets on getting fit and returning to the pitch.

“I have not fully recovered from my injury, I have not played like six games for the club and I’m bound to miss a number of coming games so now my goal is to get fit,”

“I got a meniscus problem on my left knee and did an MRI scan, it has been a recurring injury but I never took it seriously but looks like it's bad now, probably I’ll return in November,” added Pinchez.
