The Spaniard became only the second manager of an English side to win the Treble in a single season

Manchester City's boss Pep Guardiola has revealed he received a message from Manchester United's former coach, legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, ahead of the Cityzens' treble triumph.

On Saturday night, the Spaniard became only the second manager of an English side to complete the feat of winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in a single season.

Guardiola also became the first manager ever to win a league, cup and Champions League treble with two different clubs, cause he did the same with Barcelona back in 2009.

City overcame Inter Milan 1-0 courtesy of a Rodri strike and afterwards, Guardiola spoke about how honoured he felt to be on the same level as Ferguson.

"I can't wait to be on the bus with the three trophies," he said.

"It's an honour for me to be like Sir Alex Ferguson - he sent me a message this morning."

City beat Ferguson's former team Manchester United in the FA Cup final last weekend and also won the Premier League, finishing ahead of Arsenal to capture the title.
