Patrick Vieira's team remains undefeated in Marseille

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 13.01.24. | 11:34

Thanks to a 88th minute goal, Strasbourgh ended the game 1-1

The 88-minute lead turned out to be not enough for Olympique Marseille to win against Strasbourg, and the hosts' celebration at the Velodrome was spoiled by Jeremy Sebas with a goal for a draw in stoppage time (1:1). Samuel Gigot’s goal in the third minute represented an ideal start to the match from the home team's perspective, but the fact that Marseille settled for a minimal lead got them punished at the end of the game.

Vitinha’s excellent heal pass was crowned with a goal by an experienced stopper, but the answer came after almost an hour and a half of the game. After a free kick for Strasbourg, Sebas took advantage of the confusion in the home team's penalty area and scored a goal for the draw. The visitors' goal came as a punishment to Gennaro Gattuso's team for the frivolous previous threats, given that Strasbourg could have neutralized the deficit earlier, primarily through Kevin Gameiro in the 15th minute, when Lopez made a great intervention, as well as in the 86th minute when Dylan Bakwa hit the crossbar from a free kick. The visiting team continued their streak of games without defeat and reached the 11th point in five games. With the same result as a month and a half ago, the rivals continued a series of draws in their matches, given that they played a duel without a winner for the fourth consecutive time.

"Sebas has enormous qualities, but we have to use him little by little. I am very happy for him, scoring his first goal at the Velodrome, it's difficult to do better than that. Collectively, we performed very well. We remained united despite the goal conceded and with a little more success, we could have won”. said coach Patrick Vieira. Marseille moved into fifth place in the table, three points behind Brest while Strasbourg remain in ninth spot.
