A fierce rivalry born on the football pitch could soon find new life in the fighting arena
Patrice Evra, the former Manchester United full-back, is stepping into a completely different arena—literally. The 43-year-old is set to make his MMA debut in a special "showcase bout" in Paris on May 23. Known for his fierce competitive spirit on the pitch, Evra hasn’t lost his edge, and he’s even joked about who he’d love to face in the cage: none other than Luis Suarez — and he’s not worried if the Uruguayan "bites" again.

They asked who I wanna face. I said:
Luis Suárez.
I’ll pay out of pocket.
He can even bite me.
Evra enjoyed a decorated career at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during his eight-year stint with the Red Devils. But his time in England was also marked by heated run-ins with Suarez, who was then playing for Liverpool.
Their most infamous clash came in 2011, when Suarez was hit with an eight-game suspension by the Football Association for racially abusing Evra during a match at Anfield. Tensions remained high when the two met again at Old Trafford months later, where Suarez refused to shake Evra’s hand before kickoff.

Suarez, now playing for Inter Miami alongside Lionel Messi, has been involved in several other controversial moments throughout his career — including biting incidents involving Branislav Ivanovic and Giorgio Chiellini.
Now, years after those clashes on the pitch, Evra seems more than ready for another showdown — only this time, in the octagon.
