Osano attributes City Stars' splendid run to team work and healthy competition

Nairobi City Stars custodian Jacob Osano has lauded the competition in the team as one of the factors that have pushed him to do well for the club between the sticks this season.

Osano has been the preferred goalkeeping option for Nicholas Muyoti in most of the matches that City Stars have played in the current campaign, featuring in 17 of the 19 games that they have played and managing to play eight of those matches without conceding.

The top-tier debutant was benched for the season opener against Sofapaka as Simba Wa Nairobi went down 3-1 but was brought in for the second game against Kenya Police and managed to keep a clean sheet.

Osano said teamwork and competition at the club have pushed everyone to give their best at the club, resulting in his good run.

“It’s a nice feeling since it is my first season playing for City Stars in the top tier league. Managing eight clean sheets in 17 matches to help the team sit at second spot at the moment is a great achievement that comes through hard work and team support. The competition level in the team makes everything possible,” the goalkeeper told the club's media.

Last season, the former Nairobi Stima player made the squad 18 times as an understudy of Stephen Njunge but was never used for league action as Njunge played full minutes in all 33 matches.

City Stars have had a good season and are currently second on the log with 35 points, five off the leaders Kakamega Homeboyz.
