The defender joined Namungo in July 2022

Kenyan defender Christopher Oruchum aided his side Namungo FC kick off the year with a point following their 1-1 draw against Coastal Union in a league match played on Sunday at the CCM Kirumba Stadium.

Oruchum who joined Namungo in July last year as a free agent after running out his contract at Tusker lasted on the pitch in either halves.

Before crossing the border, the former Thika United and AFC Leopards defender had won the Kenyan Premier League with the beer makers.

Heading to the game, Namungo were seeking to register third successive win having beaten Ruvu Shooting and Ihefu in their last two outings.

Coastal Union on the other hand were hoping to arrest their three-game winless streak as they had drawn Police before losing to Yanga and KMC.

Namungo who watched their priced defender in Kalos Kirenge join Tusker in August last year took the lead in the 47th minute through Ibrahim Ali who was put through by Emmanuel Charles.

Coastal Union who recently parted ways with former KCB head coach Yusuf Chipo restored parity in the 60th minute through Maabad Maulid.

Meanwhile, the club has acquired youthful Yanga forward Yusuf Athuman who has struggled for game time at the club given the high competition for game time.

Union have signed the forward on loan from Yanga and was among the players who started on the bench in the league clash against Namungo.

Prior to agreeing to the loan deal, Athuman is believed to have attracted interest from Mtibwa Sugar, Dodoma Jiji and Namungo.
