Origi's Milan far from excellent but earn a draw at Salzburg

Serie A holders were able to fight back after conceding an early goal. Still, this performance is anything but satisfying

No one expected AC Milan to shine in their maiden Champions League game of the season, yet Rosonerri's display at Salzburg and that 1-1 draw were anything but fantastic.

The Austrian champions were a much better team in the majority of the game but lacked the strength and courage to go all in and grab all three points.

It was the intense first half, which saw RB Salzburg dominating in the opening minutes. Milan's defence was under a severe barrage, but Maignan kept a clean sheet until the 28th minute. It would maybe stay the same for some more time if it wasn't for Bennacer, who made a terrible mistake serving the ball on a silver plate for Salzburg. Okafor made a fool of Kalulu, placing it lovely below Maignan for a deserved 1-0 lead.

Rossoneri were on the ropes, but a counter-attack out of the blue 12 minutes later surprisingly brought the match into a stalemate.

It was a meticulous piece of the action, with Leao's superb assist making it easy for Saelemaekers to level the score just before half-time.

For some reason, both teams seemed satisfied with 1-1 on the scoreboard, with Divock Origi coming in to shake things up a bit. Awkwardly enough, the first thing he did was to save Maignan from a dangerous Salzburg attempt.

Our player had a decent game, but his presence was not enough for a total comeback. Yet, this draw seems fair enough and both slots looked satisfied with such an outcome.
