The tactician says they have to avenge for the 3-0 defeat they suffered in the first leg.

Gusii FC assistant coach Andrew Ongwae says the target is to get maximum points when they take on Kisumu Hot Stars in a league match on Sunday at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Both teams lost their last league games. Hot-Stars went down 2-0 to Migori Youth while Gusii suffered a 3-1 beating in the hands of struggling Nairobi Stima.

Ahead of the Kisumu showdown, Ongwae says they are well prepared for the game and is confident that they will get maximum points from the match. Hot-stars whipped Gusii 3-0 in the first leg and for the tactician, it’s time for revenge.

“We are going to Kisumu for three points, we have to avenge for the first leg defeat that we suffered in Awendo. We have prepared well for this game and I am very confident that we will get the points,” he told Mozzart Sport.

Reviewing the defeat they suffered in the hands of Stima, Ongwae said it was largely down to fatigue as four days earlier they were in Mombasa for a league match against Coast Stima which they won 2-1.

The defeat was largely because of fatigue. We had just arrived from Mombasa where we played Coast Stima and I think physically they were not ready for the game and it showed on the pitch because we were overwhelmed,” he added.

The team could also welcome back their right-back Samuel Michael who has been out injured and Ongwae has termed his return as a boost.

“Our right-back position was the main issue against Nairobi Stima, Samuel Michael was injured but he could be back over the weekend. He trained well on Thursday and Friday and we will make a decision on whether to field him or not,” he concluded.
