Young Lesley Ugochukwu is on his way to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea may have had a poor season last term, but the London club's future seems bright with the amount of young talents who are waiting for their moment to shine in a blue shirt. The likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez, Reece James, Wesley Fofana and many more youngsters promise to star for at least a decade more.

Lesley Ugochukwu, a 19-year-old Stade Rennais starlet, is the latest young gun to reach West London. The deal is yet to be officially announced - but it's as good as done. According to reports in France, Chelsea will pay the Britanny club around $30 million for the transfer and will hand the youngster a "long-term" contract.

Born and trained in Rennes, Ugochukwu remains in his first full season with Stade Rennais, where he arrived at the age of eight. He played 35 matches last season in all competitions, including 20 as a starter.

However, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has yet to decide whether to induct the teenager in his first-team picture and let him stay in France on loan. The most likely option is for Lesley to join Strasbourg on a season-long loan deal. As a reminder, Strasbourg is owned by BlueCo, the same consortium that owns Chelsea. The young midfielder could soon be working under Les Bleu et Blanc's new coach Patrick Vieira.

Chelsea have already signed France international Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal and Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel in this transfer window, while there have been even more departures.

Midfielder and academy graduate Mason Mount has left for Manchester United. Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly and N'Golo Kante have all gone to Saudi Arabia, with further exits expected as Pochettino rehauls the squad.
