Omwenga insists that he is still with Kagera.

Kenyan international Bolton Omwenga has quelled speculation indicating that he has ditched Tanzanian side, Kagera Sugar and insists that he still belongs to the club.

Omwenga has been missing from Kagera camp for over a month with reports in Tanzania indicating that he had ditched the club and was in fact angling for a return to the FKF Premier League in January before the move failed after Kagera reportedly declined to release him. Big spenders Kenya Police were reportedly interested in roping in the free-kick specialist.

The player is yet to return to Tanzania but has sought to set the record straight. In an interview with Mozzart Sport, the left-back insisted that he is still a Kagera Sugar player and wants to honour the remaining one year left with the Tanzanian millers.

"I want to confirm that I am still a Kagera Sugar FC player and I have been in touch with the management over the same. I returned home because of a personal issue that I needed to attend to and once done I will rejoin the club. Rumors that I have dumped the club are untrue and unfounded, I have one year left in my contract with Kagera and I intend to honour it,” he told Mozzart Sport.

Omwenga is a full Kenyan international. At club level, he has played for Nzoia Sugar, Kariobangi Sharks, KCB, and Biashara United or Tanzania.
