Sharks get boots in their defence after their experienced defender is cleared to start training

Experienced Kariobangi Sharks defender Samuel Olwande has begun training after spending the last four months out due to an ankle injury. Olwande tore his right ankle cartilage in March while in the Harambee Stars camp constituted by local based players who were gearing up for the final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier double.

The former Mathare United man was subsequently operated on the following month and ruled out for four months to concentrate on his recovery.

Olwande who has been on the treatment and rehabilitation rooms alongside national U23 winger Patrick Otieno was pictured in the club’s training session an indication that he had overcame the injury.

Olwande is gradually making his way back to the first team training after four months out with an ankle injury,” the club announced on its official social media handles.

The defender has had to endure an injury laden career as he faced the knife in 2018 while in the books of Mathare after tearing his right knee meniscus. Olwande was ruled out for two weeks after suffering a groin injury during their season opener against Wazito.

Besides missing Olwande and Otieno, Sharks have had to do without the services of Patrick Ngunyi who was diagnosed with Patellar tendonitis and went under the knife in April. The club has also had to play without their left back Boniface Onyango who suffered a supra-orbital fracture in June.
