The Harambee Stars captain got his first goal in the Asian Football Confederation Champions League taking place in Saudi Arabia

Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga was once again on the score sheet when his Qatar side Al Duhail played out to a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League on Sunday night.

The match, played at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, witnessed a first half goalless display despite Al Duhail forcing a number of good saves from Mohammed Al Owais in the Al Ahli goalposts. Eight minutes into the second half, Olunga, the Kenyan captain, picked up a deflected cross on the edge of the area before driving a shot past the goalkeeper to give his side the lead.

In the first minute of added time, deep into stoppage time, when Duhail seemed to be walking away with all the three points, Ahli got a corner kick which Omar Al Somah used to full advantage, striking emphatically after a scramble in the box to ensure they get their first points in the group after suffering a heavy 5-2 defeat in their opening game in the tournament.

That first goal for Olunga in the AFC champions league stretched the striker’s tally to seven goals in eleven appearances for his new side.

The draw meant Olunga’s Duhail went to four points after winning their first game 2-0.

With that result, Duhail now sit in second place while Ahli occupy third place in Group C.

Olunga and Al Duhail will next be in action on Wednesday when they take on log leading Esteghal F.C
