Olise is Bundesliga Player of the Season! Kane doesn't even make the top three

The Frenchman certainly deserved the award, but Harry Kane's position is somewhat surprising

Thirty-six goals, the Golden Boot, and a league title — all for nothing. Harry Kane has been voted only the fourth-best player in the Bundesliga this season.

And this was not a poll conducted by journalists or former players. Quite the opposite. The votes came from active players across all 18 Bundesliga clubs. In the traditional end-of-season survey organized by Kicker, 199 footballers cast their ballots. When the votes were counted, it turned out that Kane is perhaps not quite as admired among his peers as many would have expected.

The award for the Bundesliga's best player of the recently concluded season went to Michael Olise — and by a considerable margin. While the exact number of votes was not disclosed, the Bayern Munich winger reportedly received 40.7 percent of the total, an impressive figure.

Second place went to RB Leipzig attacking star Yan Diomande, who earned 15.1 percent of the vote. The Ivory Coast international finished the campaign with a double-double, recording 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances.

A remarkable result was also achieved by young Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic of Hamburg, who collected 11.1 percent of the votes. Only then comes Harry Kane, with 10.1 percent.

The list also included Luis Diaz, who received 4.5 percent of the vote, and Andrej Kramaric, who picked up three percent.
