Kenyan international Joseph Okumu will miss the league clash against KAS Eupen on Saturday with an adductors muscle injury that he picked in training before their last match against Club Brugge.

With the injury, Okumu was omitted from the traveling party for the match that was released by the club on Friday evening that sees the return of Michael Ngadeu to the side.

Despite not featuring the entire training session last weekend ahead of the Club Brugge game after complaining of some pain on his heel but he was cleared on match day and went on to be named in the starting lineup but was withdrawn in the second half.

In a pre-match interview, Hein Vanhaezebrouck is quoted by Nieusblad saying that the Kenyan will miss the KAS Eupen clash with an issue with his adductors muscle.

“Okumu will certainly not be there this weekend. Maybe he can rejoin next week, that's not certain yet. He has a small injury to the adductors and will therefore certainly not be there,” Vanhaezebrouck said.

Okumu's absence in the match will come as a big blow for Gent but the return of Michael Ngadeu from the Africa Cup of Nations where he was with Cameroon will offer some sort of reprieve, with the defender having been included in the traveling squad.

In the absence of Okumu, Gent will be hoping that they can build on to the win in their last outing last weekend to move to 43 points on the log.
