Tito Okello is set to unite with his South Sudanese compatriots ahead of the FIFA Arab World Cup Qatar 2021.

Gor Mahia forward Tito Okello has termed his call up to the South Sudanese national team as a bittersweet moment as he is scheduled to miss a number of games for his club.

Okello was called up to the South Sudan squad that is set to take part in the preparations of the FIFA Arab World Cup Qatar 2021 as they are scheduled to face Jordan on Monday 21st June.

The former Vipers forward was drafted into the squad alongside Kariobangi Sharks defender John Kuol, Mathare United forward Dani Lual and AFC Leopards midfielder Saad Musa.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Okello who has hit top form just before the call up admitted that honouring the national team call had him reeling with mixed emotions.

“It is not a good feeling for both sides, I cannot miss the national team but at the same time I feel bad to miss action for the club, it is a mixed feeling,”

“The good thing is that I’m still going for the same duty which is football, nothing more but at least before going I have to put in some work,” said Tito.

Okello bagged his maiden brace for K’Ogalo in the emphatic FKF Cup 5-0 win over Cambridge Universal College (CUSCO) to book a place in the Round of 16.

The 25-year-old acknowledged that he struggled to adapt to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) but is slowly finding his footing.

“It is normal for any other footballer, you cannot just adapt to the league fast, at first you do not know the approach of the defenders as a striker. I now know how the defenders in this league are - it took me some games but now I know their strong and weak points,” added Okello
