After five months of treatment, Ochieng opens up about the incident and his healing process
Former AFC Leopards forward Hansel Ochieng is looking forward to a return to action after fully recovering from injuries sustained in a road accident.
The skillful winger was involved in a grisly road accident in December 2022 along the Muhoroni-Kisumu highway, in which he sustained two broken ribs on the left side of his body, lost a heap of meat on his left leg, bruises, and cuts on his chest, shoulder, and head.
After five months of treatment, Ochieng opens up about the incident and his healing process.
"I was on my way to Kisumu when this happened. I lost two ribs, a lot of flesh on my left knee, and sustained bruises on my chest and cuts on my head. I underwent surgery in January, and, thankfully, I managed to fully heal despite a lengthy period," he explained.
The midfielder admits he endured numerous challenges during his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"This was new territory for me. I had never been involved in an accident, so it was a shocking experience that really got me scared. The recovery process has been difficult, but I am glad I have overcome that spell,” he added.
The former Sofapaka winger, who's currently a free agent, says he is eager to get back to action when the mid-season transfer window opens.
"I have been keeping fit by doing personal training in the gym and small-sided group training. I have never been in such a situation as being in a long spell without kicking the ball, but most importantly, health is wealth.
I am glad I recovered, and I am really eager to get back on the pitch. I look forward to hopefully securing a move during the upcoming transfer window and being able to do what I love doing," he concluded.
