Nzoia Sugar brought Bidco United back to earth to ease their relegation woes.

Relegation-threatened Nzoia Sugar picked up their first win in four months after edging Bidco United 1-0 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash hosted at the Nakuru ASK Showground.

Hillary Simiyu scored the all-important goal in the clash to open up a four-point gap between themselves and the red zone thereby halting their seven-game winless streak.

Nzoia headed into the clash aiming to stop the rot that has seen them endure a seven-game winless streak and have suffered four consecutive losses in the torrid run.

Bidco United who were brimming with confidence after claiming a third-place podium finish in the recently concluded FKF Cup were aiming to build on their draw against Kakamega Homeboyz last time out.

The Millers were on the ascendency from the onset as they aimed to put some distance between them and the relegation zone as Elisha Wekesa and Gaetan Masha traded shots but Bidco stood firm to whither the early storm.

Anthony Akhulia’s charges grew into the game with former Ulinzi Stars forward Stephen Waruru and Nelson Chieta taking turns to pepper the Nzoia goal but the formers shot was ruled out for offside with Chieta’s effort going just wide off the mark as both teams went into the half time break locked in a barren draw.

After a balanced start to the closing half, Nzoia finally broke the deadlock seven minutes after the hour mark when Gaetan Masha who was having a fine game threaded in a neat through ball to Hillary Simiyu who made no mistake to put Nzoia ahead.

With nine minutes left to the final white Akhulia threw the kitchen sink to the tie as he made a triple substitution, bringing on Lambert Oyuga, Eric Gichimu, Batts Awitta for Anthony Simasi, Alex Keke and Zachary Gathu.

Nzoia however managed to hold on to the slender lead to take some pressure off under-fire head coach Ibrahim Shikanda.
