Promotion hopefuls Equity Bank strengthened their charge for a historic top-flight berth with a crucial away victory, while struggling Vihiga United stunned promotion-chasing Kibera Black Stars in one of the day’s biggest upsets.

Elsewhere, Kisumu All Stars revived their survival hopes with a hard-fought win, while Fortune Sacco continued their impressive form with another commanding display.

Nzoia Sugar 0-1 Equity Bank

Equity continued their impressive push for a historic promotion after grinding out a crucial 1-0 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.

In a tightly contested affair, the decisive moment arrived 25 minutes from time when lethal forward Richard Moyo struck the only goal of the match to hand the bankers maximum points on the road.

The victory marked a swift response for coach John Kamara Mbezwa’s charges following their 3-1 defeat to Mombasa United last weekend.

More importantly, the win propelled Equity to the 40-point mark, lifting them to fourth position on the table, just a point shy of the automatic promotion slots and firmly in the thick of the promotion race.

However, the defeat for Nzoia proved costly. The millers slipped to 12th place on 33 points, missing a key opportunity to close the gap on leaders MOFA and now sitting eight points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

Fortune Sacco 2-0 Luanda Villa

Elsewhere at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga, Fortune Sacco continued their blistering form with a convincing 2-0 victory over visiting Luanda Villa.

Fresh from their emphatic 9-0 demolition of Kabati Youth, the microfinance-backed side maintained their momentum courtesy of goals from Collins Maina and Victor Ochieng.

The result secured back-to-back victories for Vincent Nyaberi’s side, who climbed to fifth place with 39 points, strengthening their growing credentials as serious promotion contenders.

For Villa, however, the defeat compounded their struggles as they edged closer to the relegation zone.

Kibera Black Stars 0-1 Vihiga United

At Gems Cambridge, promotion hopefuls Kibera Black Stars suffered a major setback after falling to a surprise 1-0 defeat against struggling Vihiga United.

The defeat left coach Iddi Badi’s side reeling, dealing a significant blow to their promotion ambitions.

For Vihiga United, the victory could prove vital in their survival push as they moved to 16 points, though they remain eight points away from the safety zone.

FC Talanta 1-1 Darajani Gogo

Meanwhile, at Dandora Stadium, FC Talanta missed an opportunity to close in on the promotion places after being held to a draw by Darajani Gogo.

While the point offered slight relief for Gogo, the result further deepened their concerns as they slipped into the relegation zone with 23 points.

Naivas 3-1 Nairobi City Stars

At the KHIBT grounds, Naivas delivered one of the standout performances of the day, stunning Nairobi City Stars with an emphatic 3-1 victory.

Goals from Collins Ouma, Emmanuel Lunalo and Derrick Anami sealed a memorable win for the retailers, who climbed to ninth position on 34 points to keep their outside promotion hopes alive.

For coach Salim Babu’s City Stars, the defeat represented a major setback in their pursuit of an immediate return to top-flight football, leaving them nine points adrift of the automatic promotion slots.

Mwatate United 0-1 Kisumu All Stars

In Wundanyi, Kisumu All Stars revived their survival hopes with a narrow but vital 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Mwatate United.

Mark Ochieng’s solitary strike proved decisive as the lakeside outfit ended a frustrating five-match winless run.

The crucial victory saw Kisumu All Stars leapfrog out of the relegation zone to 16th place with 24 points while for Mwatate it compounded their woes and now face a potential drop

Elsewhere at Ndalani Complex in Machakos, Mully Children’s Family (MCF) were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw after being held by visiting Gucha Stars in another closely contested encounter.
