Under the guidance of coach Charles Bruno, the White Rhinos had to withstand a nervy second half to secure maximum points and open a three-point gap between themselves and fourth-placed 3K FC.

Former Kiminini Combined striker Kevin Bulimo led the charge with a brace, while Vincent Nyabuto added the third.

Vihiga United responded through Chris Masitsa and Douglas Ashiviya, but their late surge fell short.

MOFA started brightly and looked dangerous from the flanks, a strategy that paid off when Bulimo opened the scoring in the 14th minute.

The forward doubled the advantage seven minutes later, finishing off another well-worked move.

He turned provider moments later, setting up Nyabuto for the third after a clever exchange, giving MOFA a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the break.

The second half, however, told a different story as Vihiga United, currently without a head coach, mounted a spirited comeback.

Masitsa pulled one back in the 70th minute before Ashiviya netted his seventh goal of the season six minutes later, but the visitors ran out of steam in their push for an equaliser.

The result leaves Vihiga United stuck in the relegation zone as they continue their fight for survival.

Darajani Gogo 1-1 3K FC

Elsewhere, Darajani Gogo fought back to hold 3K FC to a 1-1 draw at Gems Cambridge in Nairobi, ending coach Nicodemus Omasete’s six-match winning run.

3K FC had taken the lead in the first half through Oscar Kadona and looked on course to close the gap on MOFA, but Brian Wepo’s late header in the 90th minute rescued a point for Gogo.

The result keeps 3K FC in fourth place on 41 points, while Darajani Gogo moved out of the relegation zone.

Kibera Black Stars 1-0 Kisumu All Stars

At the same venue, Kibera Black Stars returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Kisumu All Stars.

Phoelix Mboya scored the decisive goal, a result that pushed Kisumu All Stars back into the relegation zone after briefly climbing out.

In other matches, Nzoia Sugar defeated Mwatate United 3-1 at Sudi Stadium, while Naivas FC edged MCF 1-0 at MCF Sports Complex in Ndalani.
