Atletico Madrid's legend says no club success can top this moment with Slovenia
Slovenia defeated Kazakhstan on Monday to secure qualification for the 2024 European Championship in Germany. Goalkeeper Jan Oblak, not only in this match but throughout the phase, played a decisive role in this achievement - and he claimed it was the most important game of his career.
The 30-year-old Atletico Madrid goalkeeper will now have the opportunity to participate in his first major tournament with his national team. This will be the second European Championship for the Balkan team after their participation in the year 2000.
At the end of the game held in the country's capital of Ljubljana, Oblak couldn't contain his emotions regarding what they accomplished. He even described this match as "the most important" of his career, despite having won significant trophies and reached a Champions League final.
"I don't know what to say! Fortunately, we were expecting this eagerly, and it went well. We managed to qualify for the European Championship after many years, after so much effort and hard work everywhere... we finally did it! Slovenia deserved it, and I believe we're not just going to Germany to participate. I think we can do more than that, and I feel immense satisfaction and pride. For me, it was the most important match of my career."
