Gor custodian yearns for playing time, highlights significance of competition in the department
Gor Mahia goalkeeper Samuel Njau has reiterated his readiness to make his debut and cling in the starting team.
Njau joined the record champions in September last year from Western Stima as K’ogalo sought to plug in the gap left by David Mapigano who ditched the club for Azam but he is yet to earn playing courtesy of the competition in the department.
The dreadlocked player has endured torrid time in muscling out the experienced Boniface Oluoch and Gad Mathews who have been alternating between the posts in league matches.

Njau was expected to inch closer to the first team when Oluoch was jettisoned from the team under unclear circumstances but the club opted to bring Caleb Otieno who initially featured in the youth team to the fold.
The development saw Mathews elevated to fill in Oluoch’s shoes with the budding Otieno who was in goal during their FA Cup round of 64 match against Congo Boys being preferred as the second choice.
Despite falling down the pecking order, the former Ligi Ndogo man believes it is just a matter of time before he beats the competition and achieves his dream of playing for the record champions in competitive matches.

“I am working hard anticipating that I will one day be rewarded with playing time. The competition is high but I am not afraid of it all. I am certain that the day the technical bench will draft me in the starting team, I will give them enough reasons to play consistently,” he said.
The former Sony Sugar custodian conceded that the competition from the other two glove men had made him better from the time he joined the club.
