Goal shy Posta Rangers have netted a measly seven times since the season kicked off. Their tally after eleven rounds is only better than Zoo, Mathare United, Vihiga and Ulinzi Stars.
Current Posta Rangers head coach Sammy 'Pamzo' Omolo has in previous seasons fielded myriads of question on his supposed defensive approach to football games. The former Kenyan international defender has offered diverse answers but the questions keep rising.
Pamzo and his Posta Rangers are facing the same questions now, having scored just seven times in eleven outings. They have gone without a goal in their last three fixtures and have not scored more than one goal per game since the season started.
Against Bidco, Posta Rangers were left ruing their scoring opportunities on the day. However much they tried, their lead striker Elijah Mwanzia could not convert any of the chances that fell his way. It is such poor form in front of goal that has caused a stir in the Posta camp.
“We had a difficult time scoring in front of goal. I think if our strikers get a little bit of composure, we’ll be able to get goals that have been difficult to come by. Because we are playing well, we’ve only not been scoring enough,” said a disappointed Pascal Ochieng’, the Posta Rangers assistant coach.
Of all the seven no out and out striker has managed to record his name on the scoring charts. Midfielders William Odero and Jackson Dwang’ have both scored two goals while Joseph Mbugi, Dennis Oalo and Cavin Odongo have chipped in with one apiece.
“Just as I have said, we are getting chances to score but it’s only failure to stay composed that is costing us,” Pascal reiterated when asked if there is was problem in the striking department.
It is a bit of a worry for Posta who have found it difficult to get their attacking department up and running so far. But there is a chance for the mailmen to look into the transfer window and bring in someone who can at least utilize some of the chances and score now that the transfer window is open.
"Yeah. We have that chance to strengthen in the attacking department. To probably get a player who can help us score goals. We have a chance to search in the window,” concluded Pascal.
After that defeat to Bidco, Posta dropped a position downwards to occupy 13th place on 10 points, just five points from safety. In order for things to change, Posta need to quickly solve their attacking woes to stand a chance of pushing themselves further away from the relegation positions.
