New Spurs boss in London by Monday
Reading Time: 3min | Fri. 13.02.26. | 18:23
Former Juventus. Marseille and Lazio boss will be in interim role until June 2026
One of the reasons Thomas Frank was sacked (apart from the awful results) was his tactical work and training sessions. As per The Times, the more Frank worked with the players, the more disillusioned they became with his methods. Training sessions were slow and overly tactical, “always focusing on structure“. And while Frank indicated in the early weeks the defensive emphasis would just be the first phase of work, the second, more attacking phase never really came. So, what is the option for Tottenham executives? To bring in another defensive minded coach!

The Spurs had a decision to make a few days ago, and it was an important one: either to hire a permanent boss now, or to hire an interim and wait until May, when there will be more suitable candidate for a long-term contact. Since both English, German and the Italian media started to give names today, it looks like the Spurs will appoint an interim boss by Monday. And while initial reports were that there is a shortlist of three candidates for that role, more recent ones (and from a very reliable source) are saying that the decision has been made and that Igor Tudor will lead Tottenham.
The Athletic and the Italian transfer guru‘s Gianluca Di Marzio and Matteo Moretto are all reporting that former Juventus and Marseille coach has agreed to become interim boss and will sign a contact until June 2026. Tudor and Tottenham agreed everything verbally and all that is left is for the Croatian expert is to sign a contract. This is the second time he is ‘jumping in‘ to be a short-term manager, after he came to Juventus in March 2025, only to be promoted and then sacked as the coach in October. His is well known for his defensive tactics and iron discipline and has a good record of making an instant impact with his methods. Wherever he went, he was successful at the beginning (Lazio, Juventus) before things got worse. That is why, according to The Athletic, he will sign a contract without a possibility to make it permanent. Before this news came to light, other two candidates were former Borussia Dortmund managers Marco Rose and Edin Terzic.
