Homeboyz's lead at the top was reduced to six points. In-form Tusker is firmly in the title race.

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala maintains that there is no need for panic despite seeing his side’s lead at the top cut to six points with just seven matches left before the season comes to a close.

Three draws in a row have seen Abana Beingo’s advantage at the top reduced to six-point with defending champions, Tusker who are unbeaten since January breathing down their necks. Many argue that Mwalala’s charges are feeling the heat of being at the helm of the log.

Despite standing the risk of losing the title to the defending champions if their fortunes do not change for the better, Mwalala remains positive. The former Kenyan international maintains that his team remains focused and are keen on returning to winning ways as soon as possible.

As I said, we league title was not decided after our game against Police, there is still a lot to play for and I am calm, I have also told my players to remain calm and focused and approach the remaining matches with confidence. We still have the advantage and now it is just a matter of ensuring that we return to winning ways,” he told Mozzart Sport.

Homeboyz will host Wazito FC on Sunday. The Fred Ambani-led team is winless in the last eight games but Mwalala does not believe that the clash will be an easy one.

“There is no easy game at this stage of the season. Wazito may be struggling but that actually makes them more dangerous because they are fighting to avoid the drop, they have everything to play for. We have however prepared well for the game, we are confident and we are going to give our best to get all the points in the game,” he added.

The match will kick-off at 3 PM.
