Oliech had strongly backed Musa Otieno for the top job but the former captain states that time will be everything in his aspirations
After being strongly touted for the Football Kenya Federation presidential seat by Kenyan footballing legend Dennis ‘The Menace’ Oliech, former Harambee Stars icon and captain Musa Otieno has left everything in his destiny to take due course in the fullness of time.
Oliech had earlier made indications that if he were to run for a seat in the country’s football organizing body, then he would be very confident in Musa taking the top job with him playing a role on the sidelines.
In an interview with Mozzart Sport, the former captain who helped in guiding Harambee Stars back to the 2004 African Cup of Nations tournament after a 12-year wait, stated that, although not in the near future, he will step up to the plate when the right moment presents itself.
“It is really good to see that Des (Oliech) trusts me like that but at the moment I can say not yet. I don't know when it will happen but the right time will just come,” the former Tusker defender said.

Since retiring from professional football, Musa has had coaching with stints at Talanta FC, varsity side Daystar and even the Harambee Stars where he was previously named as an assistant coach in 2012. Musa added that if fate were to fetch him to cross over and go into management, then he would not turn down the call.
“Sometimes you may want to be in coaching but God then opens other doors for you. Part of the work will still be helping football in one way or another but that will be when the right time comes, at the moment no,” he stated.
Musa, who won the South African league title with Santos back in the 2001/2002 season, has been singled out for his professionalism by most of the players he has played alongside. In an exclusive interview, Oliech singled out Musa as the most disciplined player he has ever seen in his journey despite his successes.
⚽️| Oliech: "In my entire career, I have only met two athletes with that kind of professionalism. Joash is one of them."

The role model went on to urge the current crop of footballers to pay their full attention to football first owing to the fact that it is a very short-lived career, and if they do that, then they will reap the benefits.
“I think it’s just a matter of focusing. I was a senior while Oliech was the junior when he came in to the team. But I had that focus because I knew what I wanted and at the same time I was representing very many people. And then you find that football is a very short career. Sometimes society wants you to live in a certain way because you are playing in South Africa or abroad, so instead of focusing on football you focus on other things like friends," he said,
"A good friend is the one that tells you to focus on your job first then afterwards you can do the rest. Right now we are only living a comfortable life because of the sacrifices we made back then,” he concluded.
