In an entertaining encounter, Seal took the lead twice, only for Sofapaka to respond on both occasions.
Monday’s men eventually found the winning goal, though the visitors thought they had equalised late on before their effort was ruled out for offside, much to the disappointment of the bottom-placed side’s technical bench.
Speaking after the match, Monday expressed satisfaction with the overall performance, but acknowledged that his team struggled in the second half, where defensive lapses nearly proved costly.
“I am satisfied with how the boys played overall, although the second half had a lot of mistakes on our side. We made a couple of communication errors that gifted a goal to Sofapaka, but it is something we can work on in football
They forced us to play the way they wanted, and we resorted to long balls, which were not helping us. But when we calmed down, we started to play our game, earned a corner, and scored the goal," he said.
The coach added that the mistakes witnessed were not a major concern, insisting they could be corrected through training and improved communication.
Meanwhile, youngster Thadeus Pkemoi, who scored the winning goal, his first in the top flight, could not hide his excitement after breaking his scoring duck.
“I am happy to get my opening goal. It is something I have been working on with the coach in training, and he has been motivating me,” said Pkemoi.
“For the future, I hope to get more playing minutes so that I can get used to this league and hopefully score more goals. I want to help the team perform well and, most importantly, earn more minutes on the pitch.”
The youngster, who recently made the jump from the lower divisions, also encouraged aspiring players to remain focused and committed to their dreams.
“Coming from the lower league to the top tier was a dream come true. I want to encourage players in the lower leagues that anything is possible. They should work hard and believe in themselves,” he added.
The win took Seal to fourth on the table with 33 points, ten off the leaders Gor Mahia.
