The legendary Uruguayan will, by all indications, leave Inter Miami, meaning Messi will be the only one left from the Barcelona group in Miami

Lionel Messi arrived at Inter Miami, and then “half of Barcelona” followed him. Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez, and on the bench, Javier Mascherano

The mission was successful this year — the Florida team won the MLS title — but it seems that was the swan song of Messi’s crew. Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets retired a few days ago, and the latest news is that Luis Suarez will also leave the club.

The Uruguayan striker has reportedly packed his bags and decided to leave the U.S. to return to his homeland. According to Spanish media, there is a strong possibility that Luis Suarez will play for Nacional from Montevideo next year, the club where he began his career.

However, people at Nacional remain cautious when asked about Suarez.

“We have to wait a few more days, until we learn Luis’ final decision about leaving Inter Miami. After that, we’ll deal with everything else. First, we just need to see what happens,” said Flavio Perhman, vice president of Nacional.

The Uruguayan maestro’s contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of this year, so he will be able to return home as a free agent. Suarez played 87 matches for the Florida club and scored 42 goals.

A return to Nacional wouldn’t be unusual for Luis Suarez, as he played for the club in the 2022/23 season after leaving Atletico Madrid. After that, he moved to Brazil’s Gremio, and when Lionel Messi arrived at Inter Miami, the old friends reunited on the pitch once again.
