The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner will lead Argentina in Luanda on November 14 - a $10 million spectacle!

Lionel Messi is coming back to Africa - and this time, the continent is rolling out the red carpet. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner will lead Argentina in a blockbuster friendly against Angola in Luanda on November 14, a match that's already causing quite a stir both on and off the pitch.

The Argentine captain will be setting foot on African soil for the fourth time, after previous trips to Gabon (2015) and South Africa (2010, 2018).

According to the Argentine Football Association, the world champions will first train in Spain before flying to Angola for their only November fixture.

"The national team, led by Lionel Scaloni, will travel to Spain for training and then to Luanda for a friendly against Angola on Friday the 14th," read the AFA statement. "After the match, the squad will return to Europe to continue their camp until November 18."

But what's making the headlines isn't just Messi's visit - it's the price tag that goes with it. Reports from African football insider Micky Jnr claim Angola is spending a jaw-dropping $10 million to bring Messi and Argentina to Luanda.

The move is part of an ambitious national project to boost tourism and put Angolan football on the world map. The Angolan Football Federation is said to be working closely with AFA to ensure the event turns into a spectacle the country won’t forget.

On social media, excitement and criticism are running neck and neck. For many, it's a dream come true - the chance to see Messi live on African soil. For others, it's an extravagant expense in a country with more pressing priorities.

Either way, come November 14, all eyes will be on Luanda and on Messi, once again, at the centre of the world's attention.
