Ruben Amorim won’t allow anyone to get close to the Cameroonian striker

Manchester United have returned to the table with an improved offer for Bryan Mbeumo, intensifying their efforts to secure the Brentford winger ahead of the new season.

After seeing their previous 62.5 million bid turned down in late June, the Red Devils are now believed to have submitted a new proposal worth 65 million, plus an additional 5 million in performance-related add-ons. The pressure is on Brentford, especially with Mbeumo having made it clear he wants a move to Old Trafford this summer.

The 25-year-old Cameroon international has been one of United’s top attacking priorities. Manager Ruben Amorim is eager to inject fresh energy into a misfiring frontline, and Mbeumo — who bagged 20 goals in the Premier League last season — fits the bill perfectly.

United aren’t alone in their interest. Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham — now led by Mbeumo’s former boss Thomas Frank — have all expressed varying degrees of intent. Spurs’ late interest even threatened to derail United’s pursuit, reportedly causing the player to reconsider his options.

Negotiations had stalled in recent weeks, with United previously falling short of Brentford’s valuation. But this latest bid could finally push the deal across the line, just as pre-season preparations begin at Carrington.

Amorim had been hopeful of having Mbeumo join up with the squad in time for the opening week of training, which kicked off on July 7. With United now upping the ante, the ball is firmly in Brentford’s court.
