The Slum Boys confirmed the acquisition through their official Facebook page, describing the Kenya international as a “gifted” addition expected to sharpen their frontline.

The 26-year-old attacker has penned a one-year deal, becoming the club’s first official signing of the ongoing transfer window.

Macharia joins Mathare at a time when the Slum Boys are seeking to build on last season’s impressive return to the top flight, where they finished tenth with 40 points after a year in the National Super League.

His arrival underlines the club’s intent to push higher up the table in the 2025/26 FKF Premier League campaign.

The creative midfielder reunites with head coach John Kamau, having previously worked together in the national U20 setup during Kamau’s tenure as head coach.

He also links up with former Gor Mahia teammates Peter Oudu, Musa Masika, and John Nyawir, rekindling partnerships that once flourished at K’Ogalo.

Macharia brings a wealth of experience, having plied his trade both locally and abroad. He spent four years in the Georgian top flight with Kolkheti Poti, whom he joined in 2017 fresh from high school, before returning to Kenya at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, joining record league champions Gor Mahia.

His spell at K'Ogalo saw him win two league titles in four seasons, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most technically gifted left-footers.

Fondly known as Mashaa, the Nakuru-born midfielder also shares a deep footballing bond with Masika, with whom they guided Laiser Hill to the 2016 KSSSA national schools title.

“Karibu sana, Mathare, Mashaa,” the club posted in their unveiling message, welcoming their latest recruit.

The signing comes amid Mathare’s restructuring efforts, which saw the club part ways with eight players in July, including former AFC Leopards captain Eugene Mukangula, goalkeeping duo Michael Wanyika and Steve Njunge, as well as Henry Omalla, Erickson Mulu, Godfrey Rabar, Starlon Odhiambo, and Daniel Odhiambo.
