The defender played a single league game since joining the club in January

Youthful Mathare United right back Francis Kamau is praying for fortunes to follow him in the player transfer window as he hopes to quench his thirst for top flight football next season.

Kamau's dream of earning more minutes in the top tier was cut by the club's decision to withdraw from the competition deep into the second leg citing financial constraints.

By the time Mathare walked out of the league, Kamau who joined the club in January from Division One outfit Ruiru Hotstars had featured in a single match that pitted the 2008 league champions against Vihiga Bullets.

Mathare's move to give the league matches a wide berth saw the Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee kick them out of the competition and announce that the club will play in the second tier from next season.

Kamau whose deal with Mathare is set to expire in February next year is hoping that he will secure offers from clubs that ply trade in the top flight who have been camping at the club's door step ready to pounce on the best players.

"Regrettably, the club stopped playing at a time when I badly wanted to play in the league. I had played a single game in the league and I pray that I will get offers and remain in the league," he said.

Kamau joined the Makongeni based Nairuka Academy in 2019 after finishing school at the Thika Garrison High and would cross to Ruiru two years later.

The academy is owned and run by Bidco United forward John Nairuka.

It is at Ruiru where his performance caught the eye of coach John Kamau who signed him at Mathare to inject competition in the defence.
