The English giant has given up on Rashford and wants to sell him as soon as possible

As far as everyone in the sporting sector at Old Trafford is concerned, Marcus Rashford is finished with Manchester United. He is currently on loan at Aston Villa, but there are no plans to give him another chance — even though he had started to show signs of life before suffering a tendon injury.

Manchester United will need funds this summer to make new signings, and part of that is expected to come from selling Marcus Rashford. After weighing their options, the club has reportedly set a price for the England international — 50 millions, according to the British Telegraph.

In the past, United could have fetched more for the homegrown talent developed at Carrington, but not anymore. Even though his contract runs until 2028, given his recent performances and lack of consistency, that price is considered a bonus.

The club has been left guessing which version of Rashford would show up — it was like reading tea leaves. Had he maintained the level he showed at the start of Erik ten Hag’s tenure, things would be very different. He wouldn’t have gone on loan to Aston Villa, nor would he be on the transfer list.

Now, United will try to recoup something — to satisfy Ruben Amorim and provide him with much-needed funds to strengthen several positions. Since Rashford joined Villa Park in the January, it has been known that the Birmingham club secured a buy option — and the fee matches exactly what the Telegraph says United are asking: 50 million euros.

Aston Villa negotiated the option to buy, and Unai Emery and his team will consider activating it, especially since Rashford has had some strong performances lately. Since joining the club, he has recorded four goals and six assists.

However, there could be a problem for the 1981/82 European Cup winners if another club joins the race for Rashford’s signature. Although Villa agreed on a purchase price, no clause was included giving them the right of first refusal — they won’t have priority.

Still, there are indications that Marcus Rashford is open to staying at a place where he has partially revived his career, even if it means lowering his demands. His current Manchester United contract earns him a massive 325 thousands per week — a figure he won’t find anywhere else, whether he remains at Villa or moves elsewhere.
