The Italian is on the radar of many clubs, but the Red Devils are currently standing out
Manchester United are being linked with a major move for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali as they plan for life after Casemiro. With the Brazilian veteran expected to leave when his contract expires, the club is already looking at potential long-term solutions for their midfield core.
The Italian international is believed to carry a hefty price tag of around 136 milion euros, reflecting both his importance to Newcastle and the inflated market for elite midfielders. Tonali’s future was already a topic of debate toward the end of the winter transfer window, when Arsenal were credited with an interest following Mikel Merino’s injury, although those reports were later downplayed.

Despite that, speculation around a potential departure from St James’ Park has not disappeared. Another transfer saga is expected once the summer window opens, and The Telegraph reports that Manchester United could be among the leading contenders. Juventus are also monitoring the situation and are said to have “concrete interest” in bringing Tonali back to Italy, but United are keen to convince him to continue his career in the Premier League.
Tonali is not the only midfielder on United’s radar. Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton are also being tracked as possible options for the Old Trafford rebuild.

Manchester City have reportedly kept tabs on Tonali as well, as Pep Guardiola’s side continue to monitor established Premier League talent. Should Newcastle decide to sell, they would be in line for a massive profit on a player they signed for 75 milion euros in 2023.
With Tonali contracted until 2029, Newcastle are under no immediate pressure to sell and can demand a premium fee. Given recent blockbuster deals involving Declan Rice, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, it is widely expected that a nine-figure bid would be required to prise the dynamic midfielder away from Tyneside.
