Magpies will play their Saudi card to find replacement for banned Tonali
Reading Time: 2min | Fri. 27.10.23. | 15:47
According to English media, Newcastle want to see the former Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves at St. James' Park. He's currently at Al-Hilal, the club with the same owner as NUFC
To understand those little connections and ties that make all the difference, we have to start from the end this time.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal belong to the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns Newcastle United.
So, if a player goes from one to another, it can't be considered a 100% regular move, right? Well, that's why quite a few eyebrows were raised in England following rumours that Newcastle United could get Al-Hilal's midfielder Ruben Neves on loan in the January Transfer Window.
Sure, all parties involved would benefit from this, but this possible move will most definitely be put under massive scrutiny.
Anyhow, the Magpies are exploring a loan move for the 26-year-old as they prepare to spend the next ten months without banned Sandro Tonali.
Newcastle need a replacement, and they have identified Neves as a potential target.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain moved to the Saudi Pro League this summer but could soon be on his way back to England if the Magpies manage to have their way.
