The midfielder scored a hat trick and chipped in with another assist to see his side progress to the next round of the FKF Cup competition.

Tusker FC midfielder Mike Madoya is hopeful that his fortunes will change this season after captaining his side to a 9-0 victory against Mihuu United in the Football Kenya Federation ((FKF) Cup competition.

Making only his first start and his second appearance of the campaign since the season started in November, Madoya was entrusted with the armband when Tusker travelled away to play Mihuu United in Kitale. The player gave a commanding performance as the skipper of the day grabbing a hat trick and providing a further assist.

Madoya, who has been on the treatment table for some time opened up on how it felt to be back in the side and especially by scoring to help his side progress to the round of 32.

“It was a great feeling because this is something that everyone looks forward to and that is what I have been working on in training. I was very pleased to score and help the team,” the player noted.

He is now hoping to make a contribution to the team after not featuring for a majority of the campaign this season and to help them towards a push for the title.

“It was a very challenging period being out without playing because everyone wants to contribute to the team and when you don’t get a chance, it affects you. But I did not lose my morale and I kept working and being patient because I knew my chance would come. These are always trying times for a player but the best thing is how you pull yourself out of the situation,” the player revealed in an interview on the club’s official website.

Although Tusker currently sit top of the league standings after eleven games played with 26 points, only one ahead of closest challengers KCBwho have a game in hand, Madoya emphasized the possibility of also going all the way in the cup competition, another route they can use to get the chance to play in the continental scene.

“I believe we have the capability to go all the way to the final and lift the cup. We have the depth and everyone is working hard to ensure that we succeed this season,” he stated.

Tusker shift their focus back to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League where they next face the challenge of overcoming Posta Rangers on Friday.
