Madhouse in Leverkusen as PSG and Bayer score nine goals
Reading Time: 3min | Tue. 21.10.25. | 23:52
Five goals, two penalties and two red cards in only 45 minutes
There were a few positives for Bayer Leverkusen fans before the home game against the European champions Paris Saint Germain. First of all, the Germans have lost only one of their last 17 European group/league phase matches on home soil. Second, they have lost only one of their last seven European games against French teams. Third, Bayer have so far lost only one game in all competitions. Fourth, they have lost their best striker Patrik Schick due to injury, but a young Cameroonian Christian Kofane has been in form with three goals in his last three appearances. But unfortunately for the Leverkusen fans all that went down the drain after only 45 minutes: Bayer – PSG 2-7.

For any football fans who are not supporting Leverkusen this was a dream game. So many goals, so many chances, two penalties, two red cards….beautiful. But most of that happened in the first half. PSG took a lead after only seven minutes when Pacho‘s header went behind Flekken. First of the two penalties was rewarded in the 25th minute, and it was a questionable one since Zabarnyi was hit in the hand even thou he clearly tried to avoid it. VAR confirmed it but Grimaldo hit the post. 10 minutes later, Leverkusen‘s agony continued when Andrich hit Doue with an elbow and VAR confirmed it is a direct red card.

Three minutes later, another red card and a penalty for Bayer. This time Zabarnyi did fouled Kofane and was expelled since he was the last man in defense. This time Aleix GarcÃa took the penalty and suddenly was 1-1 and both teams had 10 men on the field. Just as the home team fans got some hope, PSG scored no less than three goals from 41st until 45th minute of the game, two of which came from Doue. Totally crushed and with four goals in the net after only one half, Bayer Leverkusen players were an easy target in the second part as PSG mercilessly scored three more goals (one from Ballon d'Or winner Dembele), while Garcia also managed one for the home team.
