The speedy Canadian wing-back is a $42 million target for the Spanish club
Real Madrid's mega-ambitious plan is to assemble a world-conquering team again. Besides the long-standing links with Kylian Mbappe, the club from the Spanish capital is set to accelerate their interest in Bayern's world-class left-sided star Alphonso Davies.
Shortly after Bayern's manager, Hasan Salihamidzic, had to leave his post, Davies' agent, Nick Huoseh, openly discussed the link with Madrid.
"Real is a big club, I am a big fan. Real is a big name. When you hear rumours about your protege, it makes you proud. We still have two years left on our contract with Bayern. We will wait and see how everything develops in the coming weeks."

It's about to get more substantial. Previously, Davies and Huoseh had nearly agreed on a contract extension with Bayern, which was set to expire in 2025. Currently, negotiations have completely stalled, and there is no contact. It's a perfect situation for a certain someone to swoop in and whisk the Canadian international at a relatively favourable price.
German newspaper Bild reports that Juni Calafat, Real Madrid's director of football, is determined to bring Davies to Spain. Calafat works behind the scenes as the right-hand man of Real president Florentino Perez. His strength lies in building a personal connection with players and their agents even before a potential transfer. This is the case now as well, as Calafat already has a close relationship with Huoseh.
Real want Davies at the end of the season – but not at any cost! Even though the Bayern star will have only one year left on his contract in Munich from June 2024, the Spanish giants know that the transfer won't come for peanuts. Bild claims that the Spaniards hope to secure Davies for a transfer fee of $42 million, with their pain threshold being $53 million! And Real has been successful in setting pain thresholds in the past. In their negotiation with Borussia Dortmund for Jude Bellingham, they quickly made it clear that they would only pay around $105 million for the Englishman – and that's exactly what happened. In the end, they transferred $110 million to Dortmund, with the possibility of that amount increasing later due to bonuses.

Real's ambitious plan is to assemble the best team in the world again, capable of winning the Champions League regularly – and for this, they need Davies! The current focus for Real Madrid's officials is the left-back position, where they see a need for improvement. Homegrown player Fran Garcia was repurchased from Rayo Vallecano but hasn't proven himself defensively. Ferland Mendy is solid at the back but lacks offensive prowess. Real view Davies as the perfect candidate for this position. He has been proving for years at Bayern that he is one of the best full-backs in Europe. With these sporting arguments, they aim to convince him to make the move to Real Madrid. Additionally, Real intend to finally sign superstar striker Mbappe from PSG. This would be another crucial addition to the team and a further argument in the Davies negotiations. Financially, Real cannot compete with the immensely wealthy clubs in England or PSG in France, which can afford astronomical salaries. Therefore, they plan to emphasize the sporting appeal during the talks with the player.
Negotiations with Bayern won't be easy either. The fact is that Bayern does not want to let Davies go. However, given the lack of contact and the fact that his contract is set to expire in 2024, the Canadian holds a strong position should he decide not to extend his contract and express a desire to move.
