Liverpool handled Forest in just four minutes

Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 29.10.23. | 18:30

The Reds continued their chase of Tottenham with a 3-0 win against Nottingham

If they had defeated Tottenham at the end of September, Liverpool would now be watching their rivals from the top of the table. But, having returned home from London defeated, the Reds are not chasing Spurs. And they are doing well for now. They dropped two points against Brighton, but soon returned to winning habits. Liverpool beat Everton in the city derby a week ago, and this week, in the 10th round of the Premier League, they beat Nottingham Forest, remaining three points behind Spurs - 3:0 (2:0).

The game at Anfield had a terrible prelude. Namely, in the night between Saturday and Sunday, news arrived from Colombia that Luis Diaz's parents had been kidnapped. In the meantime, his mother has been returned from the kidnappers, but his father is still being sought, and for obvious reasons, the fast-footed footballer missed the clash with Forest and Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, who often share a place with him in the starting line-up, took advantage of his absence in the best possible way and signed the Reds' triumph with a goal. And dedicated a win to their teammate. The mentioned duo finished with Forest in just four minutes. First, in the 31st minute, Jota stunned him and put the rebound into the net after Nunez's shot, only to be knocked out by the Uruguayan striker in the 35th minute after he was served as if on a platter by Dominik Szoboszlai.

At the end of the second half, the Hungarian midfielder set up Mohamed Salah for the third goal. Szoboszlai sent a long ball for the Egyptian, Matt Turner came out of the goal with the intention of cutting it but misjudged its flight, missed and left an undefended net for Salah to shake it for the seventh time in the Premier League this season and confirm the triumph of the Reds.

Aston Villa scored a convincing victory against Luton - 3:1 (1:0). Unai Emery's team thus maintained a 100% performance on home ground in the Premier League, and Villa Park once again confirmed itself as a park of horror for all Premier League teams. In the end, Luton conceived ‘only’ three goals, since Crystal Palace ended up with three goals in the net as well, West Ham and Everton received four each, and Brighton even allowed six! A total of 20 in five games, giving an average of four per match.
