KCB have the second best defensive record, after Tusker, at the moment

KCB midfielder Brian Rio Ochieng' opines that the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) break occasioned by the FIFA international break has been resourceful to the team.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Ochieng pointed out that the break came in at a very opportune moment when fatigue was kicking in and sluggishness showing in the players after a busy schedule in the current campaign.

"The break has been very helpful to us because some fatigue was already showing in all of us. We have been training but with some rest days slotted in between since our last match. The rest was very important for everyone to recharge for the final kick in the season," Rio said.

The midfielder further revealed that the team has not been lethal in front of goal recently but added that they have since worked on that in training during the break.

In March, KCB went on a four-match unbeaten run but won only once against Wazito, producing barren draws in two of the four encounters, and one one-all draw, scoring only three goals.

"Our main undoing in the matches that we have played in March has been failure to score. We have been playing well, dominating matches but failing to get the ball in the net. That is something that we have worked on and I believe when the League resumes we will be more clinical in front of goal," the midfielder added.

The Bankers are currently placed fifth on the log with 37 points, 12 behind league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz who are on 49 with 11 games to play but the former Kayole Youth player says they will fight to the end of the campaign.

"We will fight to the end of the season. The team is within reach of the leaders and I know given the caliber of players we have we are capable of closing in. There is no giving up," he concluded.
