Lepizig's midfielder want's to leave the club and his preferred destination is England
Slowly but surely, June is approaching, and a transfer window with him. Clubs are already planning to strengthen their teams, some out of need, some out of necessity. There will be players out there who will have teams battling for them and Marcel Sabitzer is one of them.
The Austrian midfielder want’s to leave his current club Leipzig, and he has told that to the officials and coach Julian Nagelsmann. Bild reports that he has no intention to sign the new contract, and the current one runs out next season, so selling the captain is the only option for Red Bull.
“With Sabi, nothing is certain, neither in one nor in the other direction. His contract with us runs until 2022. It is normal that many clubs deal with him" said Nagelsmann, when asked about the captain.
Sabitzer has been in Leipzig long enough (eight years) and want’s a new challenge. His preferred destination – England. And that’s music to the ears of Ole Gunnar Solskajer, Jose Mourinho, and Jurgen Klopp, who are all big fans of the Austrian. Tottenham leads the race for the 27-years-old, as Jose is a big fan of the player, ever since Leipzig defeated Tottenham in the Champions League. The initial talks were held in January, and Spurs will have enough money to buy Sabitzer if they sell Dele Alli to PSG, as expected.
Manchester and Liverpool are also in the mix, but not so heavily. Klopp will rebuild the squad (especially if they fail to qualify for the Champions League) and could bring the Austrian instead of Shaquiri or Wijnaldum. Every pundit in England is talking the same thing: Manchester needs a presence in midfield, and if Pogba leaves, Solskjaer might make a move for the Leipzig captain.
Signed from Rapid Vienna in 2014 for only 2 million euros, RB Leipzig will earn around 40 million euros for the player which so far has 219 appearances for the club, along with 50 goals and 41 assists. Good business indeed.
