Kiss of death or true support: Rosenior claims Chelsea bord stands with him

Chelsea's season is wobbling, but Liam Rosenior isn't flinching.

The Chelsea head coach insists he still has the full backing of the club's hierarchy, even as results continue to slip. Just one win in the last eight league games has left their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread, with the Blues trailing Aston Villa and Liverpool by a growing margin with only five matches left.

Frustration is starting to spill over. Supporters have made their feelings known both during and after games, with protests intensifying ahead of the recent clash with Manchester United. Still, Rosenior, who signed a long-term deal after replacing Enzo Maresca in January, remains composed.

"100 per cent," he said when asked about support from the owners ahead of the Blues' clash with Brighton on Tuesday night (10 pm). "They've been brilliant with me and the team. These conversations aren't about reassurance. They're about honesty. We talk openly about mistakes, about where we need to improve. That's the only way forward."

Rosenior hasn't shied away from accountability either.

"I've made mistakes," he admitted. "But if you don't own them, you don't grow."

Behind the scenes, the message is unity. Despite the noise outside, Rosenior believes the dressing room remains aligned with the club's direction.

That unity was tested during the 1-0 defeat to United, when Wesley Fofana reacted angrily to being substituted, ignoring his manager and brushing past assistant Justin Walker on his way off. The moment raised eyebrows, but Rosenior was quick to defuse the situation.

"Wes is emotional, and that's a good thing," he explained. "He cares. Could he have handled it better? Yes. We've spoken about it. He's apologised. But that reaction comes from wanting to win."

Importantly, the defender remains in contention for the upcoming clash with Brighton.

Injuries, however, continue to complicate matters. Joao Pedro faces a late fitness test ahead of a potential return against his former club, while Estevao Willian has been ruled out with a hamstring issue and is still undergoing further assessment.

With pressure mounting, margins tightening, and time running out, Chelsea's season is approaching a defining stretch, and Rosenior is standing firm at the centre of it.
