The forward is up and running this season after the goal against Bidco United on Sunday.

Nicholas Kipkirui chipped in with a five-star performance for Nairobi City Stars in the 2-0 win over rivals Bidco United and was impressed after scoring his maiden goal of the season.

The former Gor Mahia forward also bagged an assist in the game as he played a pass across the face of goal to his former teammate at K’Ogalo Eric Ombija who tapped in with the simplest of finishes.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Kipkirui noted that the goal will be a catalyst for more to come and was also delighted with registering an assist in the game.

“The goal encourages me to work hard and score even more goals because when you score one goal it opens the door for many to come, I think we are back to our best now,”

“As a striker when you get a chance to assist another player its always good to do so, that is what we worked on in training and in a game situation you score or provide on some occasions,” said Kipkirui.

City Stars now sit at the summit of the table after three wins on the spin following the opening defeat to Sofapaka which came as a wake up call to the side.

After losing three games to Bidco United last season including one in the Football Kenya Federation (Cup), Kipkirui was happy to finally break the duck and heaped praise on head coach Nicholas Muyoti.

“We played well and I’m happy, Bidco have been tough to us last year and this season, we promised to work hard this time and get a win and we are happy to get the win,”

“Coach Muyoti is a good coach he has renewed energy in the squad, we have no problem with him hopefully we can achieve more with him,” added Kipkirui.
