
Kenyan teams land tough draws for East Africa school games

Shanderema and St. Anthony's Boys Kitale are in the game group.
Kenyan teams have been handed tough draws for the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Games scheduled for Huye, Rwanda, that kick off on Saturday, August 19.
Boy's football champions St Anthony's Boys Kitale are in Pool A alongside other Kenyan representatives and newcomers Friends School Shanderema, where they will face off with regional heavyweights St Henry's College, Kitoro from Uganda, Amus College from Uganda, Kalangala Secondary School from Tanzania, and the hosts CGFK.
Kenya's Dagoretti High School will play against regional winners St. Mary's Kitende from Uganda, Kiwira Coal Mines from Tanzania, Esose Musambara of Rwanda, and Uganda's other representative, Kibuli SS.
Shanderema, who will be making their debut in the regional showpiece after edging out Agoro Sare 5-1 in a third-place play-off in Kakamega will open the school event in Rwanda by settling scores against the hosts CGFK on Saturday.
Other Kenyan ambassadors, St. Anthony's Kitale and Dagoretti High School, will take to the green grass on Sunday, facing off against St. Henry's College, Kitoro, and St. Mary's Kitende, respectively.
In the girl's category, Western region finalists Butere Girls and Madira Girls are grouped together and will face off with GS Gatizo of Rwanda,Kawempe Muslims from Uganda ,Tanzanian side Ziba Secondary School, and defending champions St. Noa Girls' of Uganda.
In Pool B, Kenya's other representatives and last year's runners-up, Wiyeta Girls, will battle it out against Uganda's Sacred Heart,Gulu and Amus College, Fountain Gate from Tanzania, as well as Apaer of Rwanda.
Two-time girls national champions Butere Girls will start their East Africa maiden title hunt with a Kawempe Muslims clash on Saturday as Wiyeta shot at the sixth regional gong with Apaer Test, while Madira will have a date against GS Gatizo in their opener encounter.
Wiyeta coach Edgar Manyara said, "This is our year. We are going to Rwanda for a sixth East Africa title".
Basketball 5X5 heavyweights Laiser Hill Academy are drawn in a tough group with Ugandan sides Elite High, Entebbe, and Mbogo mixed with Rwandan schools LDK and Juhudi Secondary School of Tanzania.
Dagoretti High are in Pool 'B, where they will face regional champions Buddo SS from Uganda, Dr. Aggrey of Kenya, Ste Benardette of Rwanda, and Roleto from Tanzania.
In the girl's category, Kaya Tiwi face a herculean task against Uganda's St. Noa girls and Nabisunsa girls, as well as Rafiki Foundation and Ste. Benardette in Pool A.
In Pool 'B, Kenya's other representatives, Butere Girls and Our Lady of Mercy Nairobi, will slug it out against Orkeesa SS of Tanzania,giants St Mary's Kitende, and the hosts, GS Marie Reine.
