Former Nottingham player Roy Keane reacted to Ange's sacking
A few fans will remember that Roy Keane actually came to Manchester United on a transfer. He is not part of the famous Academy generation which flourished under sir Alex Ferguson, but came from Nottingham Forest in 1993 after three seasons with them. So, Forest has a soft spot in his heart and that‘s probably the reason why he was so harsh with the current crop of players. Owner Evangelos Marinakis just appointed his thrid manager since September. Sean Dyche has taken over the bench vacated by Ange Postecoglou. He’ll have a tough task awakening the Foresters, who were last season’s surprise package but are now a complete disappointment. However, this chain of events has irritated Roy Keane. The legendary Manchester United midfielder said clearly and loudly on TV that Nottingham Forest’s players are idiots!
"We want to play effectively, no point me telling you we're going to play like Spain"

“Look at the Forest players and the chances they had. What kind of chances did Postecoglou have? Did his players really want to score goals? Did they want their coach to keep his job? I’m talking about good players who missed big chances. Their manager was losing his job, and the players were like, ‘Oh well, another one’s gone, now a new one will come.’ They’re idiots, honestly” said the irritated Keane.
But there is one manager who will surely disagree with former United‘s captain – Sean Dyche. The former Burnley boss was appointed as new Forest coach and is already defending Marinakis.
“Look at the changes from day one to now. There have been huge changes at this club. You can question the owner currently, which a few have, but at the end of the day the bigger picture is a lot of good, a lot of goodwill, a lot of good feeling. He wants the situation to stabilise first. He's well aware of the challenges. He's been around football a long time, with Olympiacos and then here. Stability is the next move. He's just saying to me, 'Right, we want you to do the work.' That's the manager's job. And he is right. It is my job, and the job of my staff and the players, to correct it and then see how far we can move it forward“ he said at this first press conference. His first task is to win just 48 hours after his appointment as Forest host Porto in the Europa League home game.
