Gor are one point above KCB in the standings
KCB midfielder Brian ‘Rio’ Ochieng has backed his side to become the first team in the 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) campaign to hand defeat to record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia when the two sides lock horns on Wednesday 4 January at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Since the season started, K’Ogalo, who are in their first season under Northern Irish head coach Johnathan McKinstry, have not faced any loss in their opening four matches (W3 D1), results that have them in fourth place on 10 points.

But with just one point separating them and Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno’s KCB, Rio has expressed confidence that the team can grab all three points against the 19 time Kenyan champions as they want to go back to winning ways following their 1-2 loss against Tusker before the two week festive break.
“We are ready for that challenge (Gor Mahia) because we are going into the match coming from a loss. As a team, we never want to go for two consecutive losses, so we are going into the match seeking a win so that we can get back on track,” the player told Mozzart Sport.

However, for Gor Mahia’s unbeaten record to be brought to a halt, KCB will have to dig deeper as the Bankers have not beaten Gor in their last three meetings (W2 D1) from August 2021.
Since the season started, the Bankers have blown hot and cold, winning three and losing an equal number in the opening six games of the new season.
K'Ogalo on the other hand will be seeking to emerge victorious to boost their chances of playing continental football once again as the representative of the country in the CAF Champions League will be the team topping the table as of July this year.
The match will be one of the full nine fixtures lined up on Wednesday.
