The team won the national title in season one but struggled in the subsequent tournaments

Kapenguria Heroes were unstoppable in Season One of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Tournament in 2018 and the team deservedly won the boys national title.

The boys from West Pokot however found the going tough in the subsequent seasons as they were eliminated in regional final by Laiser Hill in Season Two and by St Anthony's Kitale at the County Level in Season Three.

With registration for the next edition of the tournament now open, the team has been trained it eyes on reclaiming it's lost glory.

"We really want to be back where we belong - at the National finals. We have been training really hard and have already registered for the tournament." Stanslaus Murefu, the team's Assistant Coach told Mozzart Sport.

Several talented players from the team have been scouted from the team in the past editions, most notably David Majak who is now in the books of Kenyan Premier League giants Tusker FC. Murefu believes this edition will be no different.

"Chapa Dimba is a good platform. We have around 6 players from our team who got good opportunities after they were scouted in the tournament. The most recent case was Alfred Emoni Tanui who is now in the books of Nzoia Sugar FC,"

"We also have a very good team at the moment and I am optimistic more players will get scouted when the season kicks. That is what Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom is all about to us, exposing the talents we have in our team and hoping they get life-changing opportunities." He concluded.

Registration for this year's edition of the tournament is currently ongoing with the preliminaries expected to kick off in Western Kenya on the weekend of 3-4 in June. The National finals will be played between 12-14 January 2024.
